What MyDMV services are available now?
Change DMV Mailing and Residence Addresses
Securely change your mailing and residence addresses on DMV records. NYS law requires you to report a change of residence within 10 days, and changes you file with the U.S. Postal Service do not automatically update your addresses on DMV records.
Note that this service changes your addresses only on DMV driver license, learner permit or non-driver photo ID records and on registration records.
Order, then immediately download, print and save your certified NYS driving record abstract in PDF format. Your abstract is available online until 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the day after you submit your order. The DMV also sends a copy of your abstract by mail.

Teen Electronic Event Notification Service (TEENS)
TEENS allows the parent or guardian of NYS drivers under age 18 to sign up for email and/or regular mail notifications when any of the following events are entered on the DMV driving record of the minor:
- A motor vehicle crash.
- A moving traffic violation conviction in a court or a DMV Traffic Violations Bureau.
- A suspension or revocation of the learner permit, driver license or driving privileges.
The teen must have a NYS learner permit, driver license or non-driver photo ID card. TEENS notifications cease when the teen reaches age 18.
Request for Restoration After Revocation
An eligible motorist whose NYS driver license or privilege to drive in NYS (out-of-state driver) is revoked can request online approval to apply for a new license or for restoration of the privilege after the revocation is served.
The online request process can be much faster than using the mail for manual processing. You must have a driver license or driving privilege revocation in NYS to use the online request process.

Register to Become an Organ, Eye or Tissue Donor. Individuals with a MyDMV account can register online as an organ, eye or tissue donor in the Department of Health Donate Life Registry without the need to download, complete and return a printed form.

Are there additional fees to use MyDMV or MyDMV services?
No. There is no fee to create or use a MyDMV/NY.GOV ID Username and Password. There are also no additional fees to use the services available through MyDMV. Some services, such as TEENS, are free. Other services will charge only the State-mandated fees for the transaction itself.
How do I sign up for MyDMV services?
To sign up for MyDMV:
- Have your NYS DMV photo document and your social security number (SSN) handy. You will need the Client ID Number and Document Number from the photo document and the last four digits of your SSN to sign up.
- Go to the MyDMV Home Page. Bookmark or save this page as a favorite. After you sign up, you will sign in to MyDMV at this page.
- Use the "Sign Up Now" button and follow the instructions to complete the sign up process.
- If you already created an NY.GOV ID Username and Password through MyDMV or through another state agency, sign in at the the MyDMV Home Page instead of using the "Sign Up Now" button.
- On the MyDMV Sign Up Page, enter the required information and create your Username. The DMV then sends you an email that includes your Temporary Password and a link back to the MyDMV Home Page.
- On the MyDMV Home Page, sign in with the Username you created and the Temporary Password the DMV emailed to you. When your Username and Temporary Password are verified, you will be asked to create your MyDMV/NY.GOV ID Password. You will also create your security questions and answers to reset your Password if you forget it.
- When you have created your MyDMV/NY.GOV ID Username and Password, you are taken to the MyDMV Portal Page where you can select and enroll in the MyDMV services you want to use.
- To enroll in or use a MyDMV Service go to the MyDMV Home Page and sign in with your Username and Password.
MyDMV is a system that provides DMV customers with secure access to a variety of online services from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Through MyDMV, you enter personal identification information that DMV can trust to verify your identity to create a single, secure Username and Password for your MyDMV account.
Once you have a MyDMV account with a NY.GOV ID, you will not need to enter other information to identify yourself when you access MyDMV services. For example, it will not be necessary for you to enter your client identification number (CID or Driver License Number) every time you access a MyDMV service.
NY.GOV ID is a system established by the NYS Office of the Chief Information Officer/Office for Technology (CIO/OFT) for the creation and secure storage of Usernames and Passwords that are used to access online services from various NYS government agencies. For example, if you are a user that has enrolled for MyDMV services and you enroll at the Online Tax Center of the Department of Taxation and Finance, you can use the same NY.GOV ID Username and Password to access services offered by both agencies.
If you already have an NY.GOV ID Username and Password when you sign up for a MyDMV account, your MyDMV account will be associated to your current NY.GOV ID Username and Password.
What is a "Temporary Password?"
When you have entered your identification information, MyDMV Services (noreply@dmv.ny.gov) sends you an automated email that includes a Temporary Password and a link to the MyDMV Home Page. At the page, you enter your Client ID Number and your Temporary Password. This verifies that you received the email and the email address belongs to you.
Your Temporary Password is case sensitive. You must enter it exactly as it appears in the email. Do not reply to the email. It is an automated email.
The Temporary Password is different from the MyDMV/NY.GOV ID Password that you create when you create your Username. You cannot use a Temporary Password as your MyDMV/NY.GOV ID Password.
If you cannot find the email with your Temporary Password, go to the MyDMV Home Page and use the "Sign Up Now" button to enter your identification information again. When you successfully submit the information, MyDMV Services will send you a new email with a new Temporary Password and a link to the MyDMV Home Page to sign in.
Your Username is the name you create when you first sign up for MyDMV. You use it to sign in to MyDMV and it also becomes your NY.GOV ID Username. The same Username and Password can be used when you sign up for online services at other State agency Web sites.
Your Username can be any combination of letters and numbers only. Your Username should be something you will remember without the need to write it down, but should not be easy for other people to guess. For example, don't use your real name as your Username. Do not share your Username with anyone else.
Your Password is a combination of characters that you create and use, along with your Username, to access MyDMV Services. It also becomes your NY.GOV ID Password and can be used, along with your Username, to access online services at other State agency Web sites.
There are specific rules for the Password you create. Your Password must:
- be different from your Temporary Password and your Username.
- contain at least 8 total characters, and
- include at least one upper case character and one lower case character, and
- be different from your previous 12 Passwords.
Your Password should be something you will remember without the need to write it down, but should not be easy for other people to guess.
When you create your Username and Password, you also create personal questions and answers that you can use to reset your Password if you forget your Password.

Certification
The driving record abstract provided through this application is certified. It includes a certification statement and the signature of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles. It includes the same security watermark as driving record abstracts ordered through other methods.
What Appears on Your Abstract
Your driving record abstract includes the records on file as of the date and time you ordered the abstract. Any activity or changes after the time the abstract is ordered will not appear on the abstract. To get an updated abstract, you must submit a new order and pay an additional fee.
