What is it?

• This MyDMV service allows you to order, then immediately download, print and save your certified NYS driving record abstract in PDF format.
• Your abstract is available online until 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the day after you submit your order. The DMV also sends a copy of your abstract by mail.
• The driving record abstract provided through this application is certified. It includes a certification statement and the signature of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles. It includes the same security watermark as driving record abstracts ordered through other methods.
• The DMV web site has information about what is included on your driving record and form DS-242.1 (Abstract of Driving Record) which shows a sample abstract and explains what appears on the abstract

Why do I have to sign up to use it?

Secure sign-up protects you. Only you can download your abstract. When you sign up for MyDMV, you are verifying your identity with a high degree of certainty. You must provide information such as a document number that appears on your DMV driver license or other photo document and the last four digits of your social security number.

When you sign up for MyDMV, you also get secure access to several other MyDMV services and services from other NYS agencies.

If you prefer not to sign up to order your abstract, the DMV Web site has the information to receive your abstract by mail when you order online, by mail, by telephone or through an office visit.
