Private Service Bureaus

The DMV licenses private businesses as Private Service Bureaus (known as PSB Partners). PSB Partners are authorized to process certain DMV transactions on behalf of their customers. When they use a PSB Partner, customers who normally would need to visit a DMV office can avoid the visit.

The PSB Partner program is convenient for the customers who use the services of the PSB Partners. It also improves efficiency at DMV offices because it reduces the number of transactions DMV must process or the number of individual customers the DMV must serve.

You can see the list of PSB partners in PDF format.

You must have a version number of 7.0 or later of Adobe Acrobat Reader® installed on your computer to use the PSB Partners list. The latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader® is free at the Adobe web site. external link

Follow these tips to avoid delays at the DMV office:

  • Bring all of the documentation and the fees you need to conduct your transaction.
  • Bring your proof of identity. Proof of Identity is required for all transactions. Proof of date of birth is also required for many transactions.
  • Verify the office hours before you visit a DMV office. Many offices have evening hours at least one day of the week. Some satellite offices are not open for business every day.
  • Visit the offices when they are least busy. The offices are busiest during the lunch hour, on the first day and the last day of a month, and on the day before a holiday.
  • You can do many transactions online, by mail, or by phone. See the DMV Transaction Page before you visit a DMV office.
